Ash Townsend is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, collage, assemblage, and installation. Originally from Miami, her practice explores memory, nostalgia, and the emotional relationships we form with objects, images, and spaces. Drawing from vintage ephemera, found materials, and personal archives, she creates layered compositions that examine the passage of time, imagined histories, and the space between longing and belonging.
Townsend studied advertising and innovation at the University of Florida. In 2023, she participated in the Messors Art Conservation and Restoration Workshop in Puglia, Italy, deepening her interest in material history and preservation. She has completed two artist residencies at Château Orquevaux in France, in 2023 and 2026.
Her work has been exhibited in Los Angeles and New York, including two iterations of her solo collage exhibition, Anemoia (2023 and 2024), and a group exhibition curated by Point Blanc in Tribeca (2026). In 2025, her work was featured at TEDxGramercyPark in New York.
Alongside her practice, Townsend is the founder of
Artists Don't School, an independent creative platform fostering artistic exploration, exchange, and community beyond traditional institutions.
